« The memory of Daniel Langlois is inseparable from the conservation of biodiversity on Mount Pinnacle »
Frelighsburg, November 18, 2025
The Mount Pinnacle Land Trust (FFMP) is pleased to announce that it has received a donation of 144.9 hectares (358 acres) of wooded land located on Mount Pinnacle, from the heirs of the late Daniel Langlois. The FFMP has also signed a lease for an adjacent 77.4-hectare (191-acre) parcel of land, including the summit, which remains the property of the estate.
Both agreements, signed on November 13th, aim to ensure the complete and lasting conservation of this natural habitat. They align fully with the FFMP’s core mission to preserve the ecosystems and non-human species that have lived on the mountain since time immemorial. These actions respect Daniel Langlois’ wish to his heirs that the lands he acquired on Mount Pinnacle in 1997 be protected for the foreseeable future.
« It is with honour and gratitude that our organization welcomes Daniel Langlois’ contribution to our mission. His memory will now be tied to the ongoing conservation of the mountain’s natural ecosystems, a place of life, mystery, discovery, dreams, and infinite possibilities, » said Frédéric Senez, Chairman of the FFMP Board of Directors, at the signing of the agreements.
A data collection station, installed at the summit of the mountain by the Daniel Langlois Foundation (DLF) ten years ago as part of the SENSE Project (Supervision of Sensitive and Remote Natural Environments), remains in place and will continue to be operated by the DLF. Access to the summit remains closed to the public.
This donation brings the total area of natural ecosystems protected and managed by the Mount Pinnacle Land Trust to 689.5 hectares (1,704 acres).
